Woman builds dream house through NACC’s Soft Loans & VSL

Meet Lukia Jongwe a 37-year-old lady who built her dream house through a K50,000 soft loan from Needed Actions for Community Care and Development-NACC. Jongwe hails from Chingwenya Village, TA Jalasi, Mangochi district. Growing up in a poor family, Jongwe was grappling with poverty and struggled to fend for her family

She lived in a small grass thatched house but dreamed of building a good looking one although she had no hope of attaining her dreams.

In 2015, Jongwe became NACC’s livelihood program beneficiary and managed to secure a K50,000 soft loan. She invested her money in a flitters business. Jongwe’s business flourished, and generating significant profits. She kept the profits in Village Savings and Loans (VSL) groups that NACC established and her money multiplied. She repaid then loan without any difficulties. Her money continued multiplying through the VSL and her flitters business and she built a three-bedroom house in her home town.

‘’ I’m proud to own my home and provide for my family, free from debt”.  She proudly said

Jongwe’s home stands as a symbol of her resilience and determination, inspiring others to pursue financial freedom.

Jongwe’s success is among numerous others whose lives have changed drastically over the years through our livelihood program which aims at empowering vulnerable households through financial literacy, business management, soft loans and establishment and strengthening of VSL groups.
